We are excited to share that our graduate student, Sakshi Sahakari, recently presented her MA thesis work at the 2024 Cultural Evolution Society (CES) conference, an interdisciplinary event that brings together psychologists, biologists, anthropologists, and researchers from other fields to explore evolutionary perspectives on culture. This year’s conference took place in Durham, England.
Sakshi’s presentation, titled “Cultural Tightness in India,” was part of the symposium on “Social Inequalities,” which featured a range of talks, including discussions on assertiveness and other social dynamics. The symposium fostered meaningful dialogues on the complexities of social disparities across cultures.
Beyond the academic sessions, Sakshi had the opportunity to join fellow University of British Columbia (UBC) colleagues for the conference dinner, held in the historic Durham Castle—a memorable experience that highlighted the cultural and historic significance of the venue.
Stay tuned for more updates from our lab members as they continue to contribute to and engage with the global research community!
