We are thrilled to share that Dr. Friedrich Götz and our graduate student, Sakshi, made significant contributions at the 21st European Conference on Personality (ECP), held recently at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Germany. This prestigious conference featured leading experts from around the world and provided a platform for groundbreaking research in the field of personality science.
Dr. Friedrich Götz chaired the Presidential Symposium on “Personality Science around the World,” alongside Dr. Benet-Martínez from Universidad Pompeu Fabra, Spain. ECP 21’s Presidential Symposium features an exciting whistle-stop tour that explores the question of what it means to do personality science – and be a personality scientist – around the world. Across 6 data blitzes, representatives of EAPP’s Regional Promotion Program provide a unique window into their academic lives, experiences, and research programs from every corner of the planet. The data blitzes are followed by an interactive panel discussion.
The speakers (in alphabetical order) at this session included:
- Stephen Asata (Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Kenya)
- Christin Camia (Zayed University, UAE)
- Atsushi Oshio (Waseda University, Japan)
- Maria-Jose Sanchez-Ruiz (Universidad de Alcalá, Spain & Lebanese American University, Lebanon)
- Amber Gayle Thalmayer (University of Zürich, Switzerland)
- Michelle Yik (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong)
- Cristian Zanon (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil)
In addition to his role as Presidential Symposium Chair, Dr. Friedrich Götz also presented a talk at “Causes and Consequences of Cultural Variation in Personality: Insights from Around the Globe” symposium, which was chaired by Dr. Rentfrow from the University of Cambridge and Dr. Ebert from the University of St. Gallen. Dr. Friedrich Götz’s talk was entitled “Geographical Psychology Beyond the West: Regional Personality Differences in Japan and Their Political, Economic, Social and Health Correlates.”
Our graduate student, Sakshi, also delivered a talk titled “Cultural Tightness in India” during the “Causes and Consequences of Cultural Variation in Personality: Insights from Around the Globe” symposium. We are proud to announce that Sakshi’s outstanding research earned her the ECP Travel Award, a testament to her dedication and the quality of her work.
Congratulations to Dr. Friedrich Götz and Sakshi for their remarkable contributions to the field of personality science and for representing our lab with distinction at this international conference! We look forward to seeing the impact of their work in the field of personality science.
