The paper, which was led by Dr Susanne Bücker (University of Bochum) and published in Social Psychological and Personality Science uses data from a nationally representative sample of over 17,000 individuals to investigate regional variation in loneliness across Germany. In addition to receiving attention from national and international media outlets, the paper has been discussed in a public hearing at the German Bundestag, and is cited in “Risk Factors for Loneliness”, a technical report released by the Publications Office of the European Union as well as “Loneliness: A Reading List“, a research briefing published by the UK Parliament.
